And again with one of these things

SHARE 6 RANDOM FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF AND THEN TAG 10 AWESOME PEOPLE.

I was tagged by the lovely and fantastic jynxieminxie

  1. I am quickly running out of facts to tell about myself.
  2. I am the middle of three children, and the oldest granddaughter on both sides of the family.
  3. My preferred time to shower is right after I get off work rather than in the morning or before bed.
  4. I absolutely adore Zero Punctuation and Yahtzee Croshaw’s videos/blog/novels, but I am terrible at anything but casual and puzzle games.  I kick ass at Portal…
  5. I used to be a bit of a Cracked addict, but I have, more or less, weaned myself off of that site.  I am still a bit of a BuzzFeed addict.
  6. I am constitutionally incapable of not singing a song that I know all the words to.

I’m going to steal WLG’s idea and tag my 10 newest followers.  Sounds like a party!

Goodness, that’s a lot of questions, Nonny…

Everyone be prepared for a ramble…

2. Moriarty or the Master

It’s Moriarty.  There’s something distancing about the fact that the Master is a nearly all-powerful alien and manages to be so horrible.  Moriarty is a man.  An extraordinary man, but a man at the center, and that makes him scary.

7. Favorite Sherlock episode?

Probably either The Game (for a rather brilliant plot) or Scandal in Belgravia (for having a hell of a lot of shirtless Benedict Cumberbatch… I can be shallow too!).

9. Favorite Doctor Who monster?

Whatever the hell the thing in Midnight was.  Though, in all honesty, the monsters in Midnight were the people on the bus.  Which is actually part of Doctor Who history- frequently, humans are the greatest monsters.

16. What do you think of Molly Hooper?

I think Molly was mousy and somewhat uninteresting in S1, mostly just existing to pine after Sherlock.  This held through S2 until the last episode when she saw what John failed to do- that Sherlock was afraid.

In S3, she has come into herself quite well, and I’m actually very fond of her.  I’ll be very pissed if (when) Moffat ruins that for me.

21. What do you think of JohnLock?

Lots of questions about enlightenment-era philosophy.  This was was answered here.

Ask me one of these questions and I’ll tell you more than you ever cared to know.

Anything for you, soratori42.

17. Do you believe in Sherlock Holmes?

I absolutely don’t believe that Sherlock Holmes was a fraud.  I do, however, believe that he is dead.  You can’t just fake something like that, you know?

21. Thoughts on JohnLock

I actually do subscribe to the tabula rasa philosophy that implies that how we are raised and the things that we are taught shape the self rather than some in-born behavioural patterns.

I’m sorry, that’s John Locke.  My mistake.

(Yes, yes, I’m very clever).

Ah, the good ship JohnLock.  I definitely get where the shippers are coming from, and I think that the devotion between John and Sherlock could be interpreted that way.  I don’t, in part because the fiction that I prefer to read is never male/male.

Do I think JohnLock is canon?  Nope.  Not because Steven Moffat says it isn’t (I’ve said before that his character analyses give me hives, so I really couldn’t care less what he says), but because John does.

Sherlock never announces his sexuality.  I’m open to him being canonically gay, canonically straight, canonically asexual… whatever.

John however is a “not-gay” man, married to a woman.  As a married bisexual myself, even if John isn’t actually straight, I would object to the idea that his being bi would make JohnLock canon.  He’s married to a character that I am very fond of, and unless they want to represent a canon polyamorous relationship in this show (I sincerely doubt they will, though I’d be impressed), JohnLock is not canon to me.

Check out these questions and ask me one!  I’ll probably ramble.

Anonymous said: What exactly did the Doctor mean by replying "quite right too" to Rose in Doomsday? I find this line a bit confusing

Heavy questions for a Wednesday, eh, Nonny?

Why did the Doctor say “quite right, too” when Rose told him she loved him?

What could he possibly mean by that?

Why didn’t the old fool just tell her that he loved her back?

I think the simple answer is this:

I don’t for even a moment believe that the Doctor found the crack that allowed him to see Rose for the last time by accident.  I firmly believe that he scoured the universe searching for some way to get to her- some way to bring her back to him.

I believe that when she said “so?” when he told her that the universes would collapse, he laughed because he had said the same.

I believe that he stood staring at the dying sun, steeling himself to say goodbye to the one person in all of time and space whose hand he wanted in his own.

I believe that when Rose was so brave as to tell him that she loved him after he had told her that they would never see each other again, after she gave him the gift of her heart, even when he couldn’t give her the gift of all of time and space any longer, he was shocked.

I believe that his mind and heart stuttered to a halt in that moment, and his mouth- his ever-running gob- continued without input and spat out the first, thoughtless, meaningless, useless words that were on his tongue.

I believe that “quite right, too” was just filler for a being who could have had any words in the universe at that moment, except for the right ones.

I believe that it was him hesitating to burden Rose Tyler- alone in another universe, too far away for him to reach- with his love.  Because the love of the Last Time Lord, Ka Faraq Gatri, the Destroyer of Worlds, the Oncoming Storm, and the ender of the Last Great Time War would, he would believe, be a burden.

I believe that the Doctor may have thought that if he didn’t say the words, he might be able to keep his hearts unbroken when his time ran out and he had seen Rose Tyler’s face for the last time.

I believe that her confession proved to him that there was nothing in the universe that could save his hearts- not Time, not Space, not silence, not words.

I believe that he nearly told her in that moment.

I believe that he did tell her, when he was another man with one heart and there were three hearts in two breasts that beat to the rhythm of Rose Tyler’s name.
